Victoria Clare Haas grew up in Omaha, Nebraska during the 1950s, the daughter of Clare Haas Howard. To her little girl thinking, her mother's world and all her friends seemed quite magical ? especially the Beaux Arts Ball. Vicki would accompany her mother to people's basements beginning in January of each year, where she would help make oversized decorations to, come one Saturday morning in April or May, transform a rental hall for the elaborate costumed extravaganza. Many a wintry Sunday afternoon, she would return from ice-skating to find a house full of her mother's friends drinking Orange Blossoms while musicians jammed in the dining room. Vicki longed to grow up and go to the ball, much like Cinderella. But by the time she came of age, the ball had ceased to be.

Following Clare's death in 1991, Vicki began to explore the uniqueness of these times. At every inquiry, her perception of the magic of these times in Omaha has been reinforced. And thus, she brings you The Left Bank of Omaha . . . and welcomes further insights, stories and memorabilia from others as they pertain to this era.
